Looking at the literal meaning, they can be roughly classified into one category, but in fact there is a difference between the two, and they are not the same equipment. 1. Different definitions:

Laser engraving machine is a technological equipment that uses laser to engrave materials that need to be engraved.

The laser marking machine uses a laser beam to evaporate the surface material to expose the deep material, which leads to chemical changes in the surface material and physical changes to engrave traces, or to burn off part of the material through light energy to show the desired etching pattern and text .

2. The scope of application is different:

Laser engraving machines generally engrave or cut metal and a small number of non-metallic materials, such as hardware, marble, wood, crystal, acrylic, etc.

The laser marking machine only marks the product without deep engraving. Basically, both metal and non-metal materials can be marked.

3. The printing depth is different:

The depth of laser engraving machine printing far exceeds that of laser marking machine. The laser engraving machine has a relatively deep engraving depth, and the deepest engraving material can reach 80mm or deeper. The engraving depth depends on the specific material.

Laser marking machine can only be used for shallow carving. Generally speaking, materials with low hardness can be marked with a depth of about 5mm, such as wood, foam, sponge, etc.; materials with higher hardness can be carved with a depth of about 2mm. For example: aluminum alloy, stainless steel, etc.; the specific engraving depth depends on the engraving material and the laser marking machine model used.

4. The laser power is different:

The laser power of the laser marking machine is relatively small, and it is usually applied to various markings on the surface of the product. It can also be used for deep engraving of molds, but it takes a little longer, but the accuracy is very high. Generally speaking, laser marking is suitable for products with high precision requirements and a small marking range.

The laser engraving machine has a larger power and a wider engraving range, but compared to a laser marking machine, its spot is much thicker, which is not suitable for particularly refined laser processing.
